Two Venues in One
We have two main venue spaces which can be booked separately, or booked together, according to your needs and your numbers.
Jack’s Bar & Lounge comprises the central space within the Sorrento Portsea RSL premises.
Jack’s Bar & Lounge is comfortable, carpeted and air-conditioned.
Like its Sorrento location, it’s cool in summer. And warm and inviting in winter.
It‘s a flexible space which regularly hosts the full spectrum of functions:
- Engagements and Weddings
- Live music events
- 21st Birthdays and other family milestones
- Celebrations of lives well-lived - from wakes to full funerals
- Conferences with full PA and AV displays
- Community events, meetings, art shows, fundraisers and more.
Jack’s Bar & Lounge adjoins the Terrace indoor/outdoor area.
It can be separated for smaller, more intimate functions and events, or opened up for celebrations on a grand scale.
There is a full-size stage/bandstand at one end of the room, with a professional sound system and lighting. This is the home of the popular Tom Katz live music shows.
The room has three large screen TVs for AV presentations.
If required, roller-blinds can provide a more private or intimate space.
The Terrace is a large indoor/outdoor space adjoining Jack’s Bar & Lounge.
The room is perfect for more casual events and functions.
There are efficient gas heaters for warmth in winter-time. And a special UV coated roof over the area to handle the sun over the summer. Shutters are for visual effect and for climate control.
The Terrace is a flexible space which regularly hosts the full spectrum of functions:

The Terrace has a first-class kitchen offering a selection of meals to suit any function, with its own bar and servery.
Access is via the main entrance or directly via a side gate which can also admit a van or a food-truck if required.
There is a good sound system with large screen TVs suitable for sport or AV presentations.
The Terrace can be separated for smaller, more intimate functions and events, or opened up to Jack’s Bar & Lounge for celebrations on a grand scale. The area can be curtained off to provide a more private area.

We host a great number of celebrations, functions and events each year - for all types of groups and all ages. And we can help make your function a great success for all your guests.
Spaces
Jack’s Bar & Lounge is 180m², including the Tom Katz stage.
The Terrace indoor outdoor space is 115m², all under cover.
They can be booked separately or together, with the wall of sliding glass doors opened up to create a combined area of approximately 300m².
In addition, our new extension to the Terrace provides a further 100m² under cover, plus a lawn area of 80m² - a further 180m². So in total, we can offer a total combined event space of 480m².
Engagement parties and Weddings can be accommodated in one or more of these areas.
Similarly, Corporate events, AGMs, formal presentations or even small round-table
Numbers
Numbers can vary according to use:
- as few as 10 guests for a meeting-room space hire
- 25-100 in Jack’s Bar & Lounge
- 100-150 in The Terrace
- 200-300 for a combined total venue hire.
Configuration
- Table seating or theatre-style.
- Dance floor space can left vacant.
- Bandstand stage is available (Tom Katz live music stage).
- Decorations are permitted as agreed with SPRSL management.
Equipment available
- Advanced Audio Visual system, with large screen TVs, surround sound speaker system,
- Ceiling mounted projector and drop down wide-screen
- Lectern and tables for memorabilia, presentation materials, etc.
- Variable lighting appropriate to the mood and the occasion.
- Airconditioned spaces inside, and high output gas heaters in the Terrace.
- We have recently installed a new solar-power system to reduce emissions.
Catering
We can offer a wide variety of menu selections through The Kitchen Sorrento and their on-site commercial-grade kitchen.
Offerings range from appetisers and hors d’oeuvres, to share plates and platters, to a range of full meal options. Special requests can be accommodated.
Other catering options
You may choose a Thai menu from the Sorrento Thai Restaurant on the premises (NB restricted hours Wednesday through Sunday from 5pm and Thurs - Sun in winter.)

SPRSL is a licensed venue and beer, wine and spirits are available via Jack’s Bar, plus there is the option to utilise the mobile bar in the Terrace.
Access
Access to the premises is via athe main entrance of Sorrento Portsea RSL. A double side gate can be opened for vehicular access,
Parking
Parking is never an issue. There is a small carpark next door in the sporting precinct of Sorrento, plus the vastbitumen carparks off Morce Avenue, below the main Ocean Beach Road shopping strip.
